DPF

Top Gear Car Repair now provide Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) diagnostics and repairs.

Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is a self-cleaning filter in the exhaust system that catches diesel soot to lower emissions. In normal operation, your vehicle will discreetly ‘’Regenerate’’ the DPF automatically when needed, which involves burning off the soot from the filter whilst the vehicle is driven.

The DPF warning light normally comes on when the pressures in the exhaust exceed a predetermined limit indicating the exhaust is starting to block up.

When this self-cleaning process is unable to be completed, the filter then can become blocked and a DPF warning light or engine management warning light can be illuminated on the dash display indicating a problem that needs be diagnosed.

Typically, DPF faults are in most cases caused by other faults elsewhere in your engine system or possible driving conditions. RARELY WILL A DPF FORCED REGENERATION OR DPF CLEAN FIX IT PERMANENTLY AND NORMALLY IN A SHORT SPACE OF TIME THE DPF WARNING LIGHT WILL RETURN, UNLESS THE UNDERLYING FAULT IS FOUND AND RECTIFIED.

We are proud to say we are part of the DPF Doctor Network. This makes us professionals in accurately diagnosing DPF faults and DPF cleaning on a wide range of cars and vans.
